Ignoring that in mythology the monster is named Cetus... I guess they kept the name Kraken for two reasons:
1) the same reason that they did back in the 80's, it was catchier to say and more people know what the Kraken was.
2) to be loyal to the original.
I'll probably end up seeing it like every other male between the ages of 18 and 21...
