I'd bring the original cast back (minus Amy Jo) and make their characters become Zeo Rangers:
Kat (Pink)
Trini (Yellow)
Billy (Blue)
Zack (Green)
Jason (Red)
Tommy (Gold -- but later on)

Then, instead of making that ridiculously short and old-Billy focused Zeo/MMAR Team-up, I'd still have AJJ come back as Kimberly for a two-parter as MMPR Pink. Her damaged Dino Coin would be repaired by Ninjor (who would make a cameo appearance) and be temp.-powered by the Zeo Crystal, like Tommy was by Zordon. It would have worked story-wise and would at least lead up to a mutual break-up between Kim and Tommy. Plus it would be a mini-MMPR/Zeo team-up at the start of the second half of the season.

It would have been exactly like Zeo but with the MMPR Suits and spliced with Ohranger footage.

Tommy leaves to find the other half of his Arrowhead. Rocky decides to go with him. Jason becomes Red Ranger. Zack and Trini become White and Yellow. Brad Hawkins plays the new Gold Ranger later in the season.

I think Lord Zedd and Rita would still be the villians. The Rangers would get new power coins made from the Zeo Crystal. And new Zeo Zords. Their MMPR uniflrms would be thr same like in season 3. I could see Tommy endint up going Gold latsr on.

MMPR went on two years too far. It was far from perfect but at least thdy finally got the idea of going to different series like Super Sentai.

MMPR season 4 never would have been as great as Zeo. Especially without the Machine Empire.

The OhRanger mecha wouldn't exactly work, color scheme-wise. The Lion Thunderzord might have worked as Black Ranger's Zord in the second season, but how would anyone explain why does the Black Ranger pilot a green-colored Super Zeo Zord?

Zyuranger color scheme: Green/Black/Pink/Blue/Yellow/Red
Ohranger color scheme: Pink/Yellow/Blue/Green/Red/Gold

Replace Gold with White and you've got the Dairanger color scheme.

Zeo Zord IV - would not pass as Black Ranger's Zord.
Super Zeo Zord IV - would not pass as Black Ranger's Zord.
Lion Thunderzord - was less green and could pass as Black Ranger's Zord. Even though the Thunder Megazord's chest area was green instead of black. Saban got lucky with MMPR S2, but he would have to get Toei to re-film the Ohranger Zord Mecha to replace the colors of OhGreen's/Zeo Ranger IV's Zords to black. Plus they would have to swap the green ranger's costume with a back-clored version of it. Which would have meant more original footage work for both Toei and Saban. It was time to move on from the Zyu/Dai/Kaku stuff. Saban was right to ditch the Mighty Morphin' prefix in the show's title. It was less expensive to produce the season. Plus it's easier to have your actor just change his black T-shirt with a green one.
