Why didn't Cruger make Sky SPD Red?
 

He was clearly more qualified then Jack , who was a criminal when he joined SPD. It made far more sense to make Sky leader.

Sky was too arrogant, Crugar knew the power would just go to his head. But he hoped he would learn his lesson if he was forced to be Blue Ranger.

He didn't really. Cruger knew Jack could be a good leader. He just needed to learn responsibility. Doggie knew his assignments would actually make the two better Rangers in the long run. Which would be crucial to stop the Troobians.

I thought it was more dumb when he let Jack just quit when he was distracted by his new girlfriend at the end of the season.

Cruger was an idiot just like all the Rangers of that era. Mostly due to the incompetence of the writers.

Sky wouldn't have been a good leader if he didn't learn humility. Jack was selfless and Dougie knew he would do the right thing.

Jack was a baffoon who thought he was more important then he really was. Not that Sky was a great character either. He was a big whiner.

Thats why Cruger chooses their roles though. It makes them better leaders in the long run.

As soon as Jack realizes he is the leader he immediately starts acting like an asshole and abusing his powers. Sky well-he was an asshole from the beginning.

Thats one episode. Jack learns his lesson pretty quickly. And Cruger was the one to make sure he learned that lesson. Sky learned his lesson by the end of the season and has a much better attitude in the end.

I thought it was silly that Cruger made Jack the leader when he had no experience and was a criminal. Sky would have been the much better leader. Cruger could have humbled him a different way.

Jack was pretty likeable. He was genuinely trying to do good..
