why did tommy stop being the white ranger

The White Ranger footage was from Dairanger. Power Rangers gets its action footage from a Japenese show called Super Sentai. Which has a new series every year. Dairanger was one of those Incarnations. Very similar to what Power Rangers does now. When Zeo started they decided to only use Footage from Ohranger. So Tommy was made Red Ranger. Since there was no White Ranger in Ohranger.
